Education Offerings

Susan Wisseman is our Director of Christian Education and Family Life. Her email address is susan@saintandrewlc.org.

Christian education is a lifelong pursuit. We offer education opportunities for all ages at Saint Andrew.

Sundays
From September through May, classes for age 3 through adult are held during our Christian education hour from 9:45-10:45.

Ages 3 through grade 4 begin the education hour with music and worship. Preschool through grade 6 will be using the “…walk with me…” curriculum this year. They will discover how the Bible relates to their daily lives and encourages them to respond with their hearts and make a personal commitment to Christ.

Junior High Sunday school often relates to content being taught in Confirmation class. Senior High Sunday school is topical – relating faith to life.

There are three tracks for adults on Sunday mornings: Adult Forum, which looks at faith and topical issues, Bible studies and book studies. A traditional class that focuses on Bible studies and theology, and Parent and Family track focusing on topics related to raising kids in faith in today’s culture.

Family Opportunities
Throughout the year, we offer special education and fellowship events for the whole family. These include an Advent Festival, Epiphany Party, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, Lenten Festival and Pentecost Party.

Weekdays
During the school year, Pastor Dennis leads the Wednesday morning Bible study which meets at 9:30.

Confirmation
Confirmation is a two year program at Saint Andrew for youth entering 7th grade or above. We meet on Wednesday evenings from the end of September through the beginning of May. The class runs from 6:00-8:00 and includes dinner, lesson and small group time. Each student is assigned to a small group with an adult mentor. There is a nominal fee for materials.

Students receive one year of catechetical instruction – focusing on the sacraments, the Lord’s Prayer, the Apostle’s Creed – and one year on the Bible. Second year students are confirmed at an Affirmation of Baptism service in May.

God and Country
Each year, in the spring, we offer a class for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts interested in earning the God and Country award.

First Communion
In the spring, we have a Sacraments class that runs for three Thursdays to instruct children 3rd grade older to prepare them for their First Communion, traditionally on Maundy Thursday.
